54 BelAir 235. I come back from snow birding and I’m having a problem keeping the car running. I noticed smoke coming up from below the carb on the exhaust manifold. Will this affect how the car runs? I’ve also noticed the fuel filter leak where it never has before. It seems to build up pressure into the carb. I plan to replace the gaskets but I’m curious if that’s the fix?

Change the filter and check for leaks. If the gas filter is leaking causing the smoke it could be a BIG problem. If it is just an exhaust gasket leak then not and issue of fire but does need repair.
