@tiny Ha! Well I got them out but yes violence was involved. Air hammer at 100psi and a lot of noise! Still took a lot of hits with the air but they eventually came free.

Thanks to all for sharing your expertise. I have done some further testing over the weekend and now believe that the source of my problem was the Bendix assembly. I rigged up my cell phone underneath the car and recorded a video of the flywheel and Bendix pinion through the access panel. It sho...

I’ve replace studs this way many times when we had the shop, never had a problem. I guess if you could damage the hub this way it wasn’t very good to start with.

You sure driving them out won't harm the hub? I was reading that hammering them out may Ccrack the hubs? Never had to do this before, not sure if that's right or not so want to be sure before I do something I kay regret 😉 Guess this could be a fun use of the air hammer.

Does anyone have a picture of a valve stem caps for a 38 Chevy? I was deducted a point for having the wrong ones.

If you have disc wheels and I assume you’re taking about the lug nut studs. You should have room to drive the stud out, may have to find a spot to be able to have room to get it out. With your new stud use 2 washers and a nut to pull it into place. You shouldn’t be able to find new studs at a local...

Digging through all the issues on this car and I found the drivers side rear hub has a couple stripped studs. None of my books show how to replace a stud on the hub, so curious if anyone can point me in the right direction?

I had a problem with out-of-round outside brake bands on my '27 truck a few years ago. Here's an writeup about how I got them round again: Outside brake band bending technique Cheers, Dean

Hey guys, Tomorrow's project is going to include getting all the linkage and rear brakes back on the Chevy. The top bands do not have the same radius as the hub, so the far edges touch earlier than the middle. Is there a proper way to shape these bands on the hub so I can get uniform contact...

I haven't given up and will start my search again when it cools off. I'm still looking for the AOS Frame Number on my 33 Master Coupe. I know where it is on a 32 and a 34 Master. They are on opposite sides. I don't know on a 33 Master. There is a thin coat of paint over it and I need to be careful t...

Finally got a rear hub off. Only took a puller, Kroil, a torch, 3lb hammer, and an air hammer...   Tons of dirt laying inside as these have never been off the car. There are a couple stripped lugs on the rear so going to clean things up and replace those.

@thomas-fowler Hi Thomas Two thoughts on your problem... First... If a 1931 engine has had the rod bearings adjusted as they should be, and then the engine is allowed to sit for a long time before starting, the engine will be very tight to turn over as the oil will have squeezed out of the t...

Hello Thomas Fowler, Before deciding to travel in other directions, I think that I would remain focused on the Delco Remy 714-L starter. Reading your post carefully, with starter installed, you say 'when applying voltage, you can hear the starter spin but does not rotate flywheel'. Are you saying ...

@thomas-fowler Thomas, Your description does not tell us if the starter continues to spin when the drive kicks into the flywheel. If so, one would have to assume a ring gear problem. If not, a tightness problem in the bore or at the crankshaft, or both. You can address the end play issue on your ...

Had the same issue with my 51 235 that was rebuilt three years and just started this week. The 6 volts would not turn it. I did use a two foot pipe over my ratchet with an adapter for the c/s pulley to manually turn it. Turned it a few revolutions with the plugs out almost daily for about a month. A...

It sounds like a flywheel problem also. Are you sure it is not missing a few teeth? I had that problem on a 27 a long time ago.
