Looking for info on the clearance between the steering pitman arm to the gear housing. I have about 3/8 of an inch and the nut is I believe fairly tight. My issue is when turned to the left the drag ling contacts the exhaust pipe by about an eighth of an inch. The pipe is 1/4 inch from the block at the lower end and is not flexible at the manifold. I am trying to determine which part is the problem. Any and all replies appreciated.

If I remember correctly,  the pitman arm has a master spline so it is probably correct.  When I put headers on my car the shop ran the pipes incorrectly and the pitman arm came in contact with the pipe. Hope this helps.

@william-vance Thanks for the reply. I was able to reduce the clearance to about 1/16" and the drag link now clears by about 1/8" .
