Rocker Shaft Oil Pressure

My 36 runs beautifully, however after the engine was rebuilt and I ran it for about 100 miles, I removed the valve cover to tighten the head bolts and check the valve clearance, and noticed that there was very little oil coming off the rocker arms.  Before the engine was rebuilt, there was a lot more.  I have good oil pressure.  I disconnected the oil supply line from the fitting between the shafts, and got no oil at idle and very little when increasing the engine speed.  My Moto Repair manual does not show how to adjust the rocker arm flow.  Any ideas?

thanks,  Steve

@steven-cavagnolo I think your question will get more attention as a stand alone thread instead of being buried in someone else's thread. To that end I split it off and edited it for clarity. As for my opinion on your question, it's difficult to say without actually seeing the amount of flow you're getting. As a rule, there's very little flow at idle. If there's any flow at speed, you may be OK as far as the rockers are concerned. The rocker shaft's holes are along the bottom. That design allows oil to get to the rockers long before the shafts get full of oil. Since the flow is less than before the rebuild, you're right to be concerned. Some of the more knowledgeable folks will be along soon to provide relevant advice.

Tiny,  Thank you for your reply.  Good advice for future inquiries.  After I posted yesterday, I passed a wire down the oil supply line.  I found it was restricted, but it did pass through.  I then hooked up a tach to see how fast the engine had to run before seeing oil come out of the hole on top of the rocker arms.  I was delighted to see oil flowing at about 1500 rpm's!

Sometimes, just posting on the forum gets you thinking in the right direction.

Thank you for your comments, and support,

Steve
