So after removing the front plate that goes on the input shaft, I was able to see the bearing and why it may leak a little. Also, the front plate seems to have reverse threads in the hole which would be my guess to direct any oil back into the case.

So cool to learn and understand the mechanics of a old car.

When I ordered the gasket set for the transmission and U joint bell, it came with an o-ring instead of cork gasket to tighten on the torque tube, is there a reason for the difference?

The o-ring is a replacement that some feel seals better . I have used both and neither is a sure cure. The o-ring probably does have a longer shelf life and is easier to install.

Better seal in theory. Mine came with only the cork and I didn't think about using an O ring so I have no personal experience to share. Just from general experience the O ring should seal better.

I have used o-rings to replace the original cork for the past number of years. I am getting convinced that modern cork is not up to the job particularly if there is any corrosion damage to the parts. 

Know that I have everything clean and all the parts needed to put the new clutch back in I have not been able to find any pressure plate bolt torque specs. Does someone happen to have those or know where I can get the specs needed for clutch, transmission, and universal joint assemblie.

@jeff-navarro Jeff, I don't have them handy, but there are torque specs available, by bolt size, that should work well for you. I think you can find them online. I doubt that Chevrolet ever published any torque values for mid 1930s service work. I have always just tightened them to my liking and have never had any come loose.

So the 36 is back together and I have driven it a little bit around my neighborhood with no issues Leaks or funny sounds. Shout out to all you guys for your direction and input in helping me take care of this. looking forward to going to coffee and cars and car shows here in Phoenix.
