I took off the Landau cover today as the fabric needs replaced and noticed that the passenger side has a metal bracket holding the stud that goes to the exterior, while the drivers side has a "much less beefy" mount. Neither side has any kind of grommet or way to keep water out of the interior.
Does anyone have a picture, diagram, or even a 4th cousin who once saw how a Landau is setup? Would love some guidance on how this might have been done.
Those brackets were made out of pot metal and someone must of made a replacement. The washers and shaft covers were simulated top material, I will attach a picture of a set that came with my 29 Cabriolet. They were available as repos in the 70's so I am not sure anyone is making them today. The makers last name and address is on the brown paper his first name is Bob. I will also show how they look on a 31 Buick to give you an idea.
