Made it to the engine on the Landau and am starting general cleanup before the rebuild kit arrives.
I pulled the valve cover and notice the front half is covered in residue while the back half is clean. Is that normal in a stovebolt or an indication of a potential issue. I'll be dropping the oil pan later this week so that may offer clues as well.
Although I have no experience with the straight sixes, your photo makes me wonder if the oil delivery to the front rocker arms is different (stronger, more flow?) than the delivery to the rear rocker arms.
