In another thread there was a discussion about stainless steel and its qualities. it reminded me of my current purchase of a new refrigerator as my 38 year old Amana was getting noisy. The salesperson I spoke to was very honest and said not to expect more than 10-15 years on any new products. Due to space constrictions I ended up with a Whirlpool product. The owners manual listed 3 service centers in the USA if needed. One for Amana, one for Maytag, and one for Whirlpool. I thought why would they list others. Then I noticed that in Canada all three products were serviced by Whirlpool. Yep they own all three lines. When I mentioned that to my daughter she sent me an article about mattresses. Seems that some manufactures sell the same product to several retailers with minor changes so you can not compare directly. The only differences may be as simple as the covering or brand name but the construction is the same. Ir seems no matter what you are buying today what you get may not be what you think it is .
