Would appreciate info on spark plugs members recommend for the 1947 Stylemaster. 47 shop manual says AC104 but hard to find of course, ebay has rusted ones, high price, etc. Also points & source. Thank you.

M8 is a more current replacement AC plug for the 104. You should be able to get the points and plugs locally but the Filling Station who advertises on this site is a good source too.

If you have a problem finding M 8 plugs I believe I have some extras.
Hi Ernie
As you know, AC104 spark plugs are pricey, but at least they are still readily available on ebay (as you also already know).
I tried M8's in my '46 but wasn't at all happy with their performance.
I spent a lot of time chasing a problem with missing and poor performance, looking at just about everything but the plugs, thinking it couldn't be them because they (M8's) had just been installed a short time before.
Finally in exasperation I pulled the plugs to have a look at them.
I couldn't see anything visually wrong with them, but put in a new set of AC104's I had anyway.
Presto... and that same set are still running fine thousands of miles later.
So... I bit the bullet, watched ebay, and bought a supply of the "least pricey" plugs when they showed up.
As for points and condensers...
The points from a local auto store were so loose on the pivot pin in the distributor that setting them was impossible.
So... same thing, bought a supply of NOS Delco points and condensers.
And I've been happy with them too.
Just be sure to buy parts that look clean with no signs of corrosion.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I hope it helps. 🙂
