'38 Master Deluxe - all stock.

Noticed a few times after driving in warm temps (SoCal) recently, that there were bubbles in the glass bowls of the fuel pump and fuel filter while running. Read about boiling points of winter gas and summer gas - not sure we see those blends in SoCal. Figured I would check all of the fittings - I recently swapped the old steel hardline from the pump to the filter with stainless. I thought I saw a little dampness at the outlet fitting.

I pulled off the inlet and outlet fittings from the pump, cleaned the threads and reinstalled. While I was in there I remembered I had a new bowl gasket for the pump somewhere in my tool chest. Found it and threw that in there.

Started the car, no obvious leaks, BUT - now I see lots of tiny bubbles in the fuel pump bowl. Pulled the bowl off and checked the new gasket to the old one. The old one had a notch cut out to clear the bump out on the pump housing. Cut a similar notch in the new gasket and rubbed down the gasket with oil (read that somewhere). Put it all back together - no more tiny bubbles.

Always an adventure working on these old cars.
