reassmebling my ‘38. do the running boards run flush with the bottom of the cab? mine start 1 1/4 “ to 1 1/2 “in” at the front of the cab (front of door) and are flush at the back of the door. i seem to recall some spacers in between the cab and front fender when i tore apart. the back of the running board marries to the back fender, but it’s a bit of a fight.
Any idea regarding the gap from the rocker panel/ bottom of the cab at the front of the door opening? thanks!!!
@william-fig How is the back of your cab mounted? There should be a spacer (approximately 2") between the top of the frame and the bottom of the cab.

William, FYI you can add up to 10 photos to each post.
There is one restriction, however: each photo cannot be more than 5MB (megabytes) in size. If it is larger than 5MB, it won't upload. You might need to reduce the size of photo file.
I use the Paint program that comes with Windows to resize photo files (jpegs). Just open the file in Paint, resize it, and save it with a different filename so you retain the original photo file in all its glory.
There are many other ways to resize a jpeg besides Paint. Search the internet for 'resize a jpeg' and you'll get many options to choose from.

@35mike ill check amd you know. i was wondering about the parallel allignment of the running boards in relation to the rocker panel. mine are “in” at the front and “even” at the back of the cab.
@william-fig I was looking at the horizontal alignment between the cab and board. It looks like your cab is low at the rear. It could be just the camera angle or other optical illusion.
I think you mentioned in a previous post that you are not working with parts that have not always been together. Can you elaborate?

@35mike first, i really appreciate your time and sharing your knowledge. it is titled a 38 with, as far as i know, a 38 can, running boards and fenders. the bed is, as i found out, is from a 47. the bumpers appear to be off a 46.
it all fit together pretty well when i pulled it off its frame (a 38 as far as i know). i had a custom frame made, which is the cause of many of my woes.
i found some old pics. it appears the top of the running boards is flush with the bottom of the cab. it also appears that the front of the running board starts about 1 1/2” in or under from the outside of the cab (under the cowl) and is flush with the outside of cab at the back corner that’s what i’m trying to confirm
i took some pics but too large to upload will try again tomorrow
@william-fig A 1938 Pickup bed is 45 inches wide inside. Any bed from 1940 or later is 48+" wide inside. The wider bed makes your fenders wider so your running boards have to angle out to match up with them.

If you're using a Windows based computer, it has a built in basic photo editor called Paint. It can resize your images. I use software called Irfanview which is freeware and has a short learning curve.
