Taking the balancer off the 29 was easy with a removal tool. Now the trick is, how do folks get the balancer back on? I thoroughly cleaned both surfaces, polished a little and oiled them up. Able to get them on part way but I still need to get a good .3" of an inch further back.
Im guessing wailing away with a 3lb hammer is not advised, so what techniques do you all use? Is it safe to heat up the balancer before install?
A BFH is what I've always used. I've read that some drill & tap the crank snout then use a grade 8 bolt/washer to draw it on. You might gain a bit by putting the balancer in the oven & icing the crank snout but I'd be careful about not getting the balancer too hot.

Is a BFH a larger than normal hammer?
A 3 lb hand sledge and a block of wood is what I used. Others may have better ideas.
