Put in 8 hours on the Landau today and made a ton of progress. I did find that the threads on one of the rear axle shafts is all buggered (probably why pap always said never to take that wheel off).
Does anyone know of a video on how to remove the axle shaft, or can anyone give a narrative?
Hoping I can take the shaft to a machine shop and have it corrected.
The axle shaft on your 1929 is held by a retainer plate with felt seal held in place by bolts into the rear axle housing. The outer axle bearing is pressed onto the shaft and secured by a circular "nut" and tabbed retainer. The axle with bearing generally has a snug fit into the rear housing so will need some help to remove. I replace the axle nut and use it with a rope or wire to tug on the axle to remove it. Block of wood and large screwdriver (or other prying device) to pry it loose should do the trick. While it is out checking the bearing is a good idea.

After how hard the hub was to get off, I went out today loaded for bear. Had the 12k winch on the tractor ready to pull. Removed the gasket to expose the bearing and gave a little pull on the axle.
It came right out... that was pretty anticlimactic, but I'll take it!

Regarding removing the axle shaft bearing. I've removed the ring and the retaining nut.
The bearing seems to be firm in place, were these bearings pressed on so I'm going to need a press to get it off? I was a little hesitant to try and force it off as I don't want to ruin the bearing.

I have a few spare axles around. The '29 axles are notorious for breaking.
