My fuel pump went out and I picked one up from NAPA. The one I got was listed for the 216 engines between 1940-51. Their part number is B006P. This pump does not have the glass bowl. Before I install it I want to make sure it will work. When I push the pump lever the pump does not make the sucking sound I am familiar with on the old pumps. Do the new ones not make this sound?
@robert-c-kelly Robert, If you have, or can get your hands on, an old take-a-part style pump, I suggest you buy a diaphragm from one of the vendors and rebuild an original pump. You can also contact Bob Marx at Marxparts in Wisconsin. I think he can help you with a properly rebuilt original style pump.
