Ive had the sherryberg (knock off daytona) on my 1940 for about 3 years, no issues at all. You can also try out the daytona carb but that is another $100 more. UN2 Universal Carburetor If you do opt in for the sherryberg, there is a screen filter here (circled in red below) that gets clogged, i removed it as soon as i got it.

Just yesterday I returned a 1958 pickup to a friend with a 235. When the truck came to me, it had the manual choke version of the Rochester B clone on it.  Initially, the truck would not run.  I took the top off the clone and found the float setting way out of spec.  Once the float was set, the truck started and idled fine but performed very poorly at all throttle positions off idle.  Needless to say, the truck was returned with an authentic Rochester B assembled from spare parts. I’m not saying all the clones perform this way, just my recent experience.  The clone should have performed better out of the box. 

@michael-falise Good to know. My friend purchased a Chinese clone for a different engine and also had the same results. I was hoping to get something usable. I have both a Rochester and Carter that need rebuilding and for the price of the Chinese clone ( $100.00) it would suffice until I could rebuild one or both. Also could give me something to compare to. I just got my engine running yesterday and was looking for a quick fix but i don't need to add to unwanted issues.

@steve-d no problem. I went with the new carb because it was about $20 more than a rebuild here in LA.
