I'm about to attempt to adjust the steering box on my panel truck, it has a lot of lash play and wanders. I have the manual pictures aren't too good. Just looking for any tips or any vital things  before I start. TIA.

I have a GMC service bulletin that describes in real detail on how to adjust the steering box, both the 36 GMC and Chevrolet had the same steering box. Send me a message with your email and I can send it to you.

Jeff, you should probably message him. He may not be monitoring this thread now. Click the down arrow under his name then click the envelope icon.

@jeff-navarro I have a 36 truck that I rebuilt the steering box with all nos parts. I followed the adjustment instructions in the service manual, but it never seems quite right. I will email you and request a copy of the service bulletin.

Thank you

Richard, I had the same problem after rebuilding the steering gear on my 1936 truck. Patrick sent the GMC procedure to me and it was very helpful. Good Luck.
