@pbmorrison-2 An electrolock is an armored cable housing that runs from the back of the ignition switch to the coil. They changed in appearance over the years but all served the same function, a deterrence to hot wiring and stealing a car. The image below shows the one on my old 38. A 31 would be different but I don't know what the specific differences would be (usually in how it connects to the coil).

The 31 electrolock armored cable would have gone from the switch to the distributor with a regular coil mounted on the firewall. Yours has been replaced.
