‘38 MD Sport Sedan (4dr)
Anybody know if the wooden tool cover was originally painted or natural wood?
Mine seems to have been “remade” at some point.
Pictures would be great.

Not sure what you're referring to. My 38 was a Business Coupe. Pictures? FWIW all of the trunk wood in mine was painted flat black.

The original on my 39 was black. It was more of a black stain than a paint. Like a very thin paint that soaked in.
