Fuel line routing

‘38 Master Deluxe w/stock 216. Does anyone know or have a picture or drawing of how the fuel line is supposed to route from the fuel pump to the carb? I have seen it routed up and over the top of the engine and pass between the valve cover and the upper water inlet (along with the distributor vacuum line) and others that run it under the front of the engine and then back up on the drivers side.

Curious as to what is correct.

I have never seen the fueling vacuum lines routed any way other than between the valve cover and thermostat housing on any Chevy of the 6 cylinder era.

Most of the cars I've seen followed that, but I've seen a few that ran them under. Tiny's example, for example 😀

@35mike

I too have seen engines with the lines routed as per Tiny's picture.

When routed that way, there is no boss cast into the thermostat housing for the clip and 1/4" bolt to hold the lines to the housing.

On 216 cid engines with lines routed as per Mike, that boss should be there, in the right rear area of the thermostat housing, and can be seen on mine (minus the bolt to hold the clip to it).

PS

Mike, how do you do that thing where you reply to multiple people at the same time?

Looks like a handy thing to know how to do, as I would have like to reply to Steven at the same time.  🙂

PPS

Found a picture of a thermostat housing without the boss and routed like Tiny's.

Here is what the 1942 Master Parts book says.  Who would have thought there would be a different part number for 1937-1939.  Mike

@ole-olson Ole, I just copy and paste the name , without the parentheses. I do this when I am first to reply to a post also, so the OP will know that someone has replied.

@35mike

Well that's embarrassingly simple.

When I want to reply to a specific post I have just been clicking on the "reply" at the bottom of that post, and their name automatically comes up at the top of my post.

So I can just copy and paste more names to that then.

@35mike

On my screen the @***** name below the user/member name is quite light and really hadn't caught my eye before.

Thanks for the tip.
