2 1/2 years ago I purchased my project and joined this forum hoping to find the help I so badly needed.
I found it here and over at Stovebolt.com when suggested I visit there as well.
Today I drove the truck out of the garage with the engine running and the brakes working!
It still has a long way to go before it could be considered a completed project...but I feel a real sense of accomplishment having gotten as far as I did. AND, a lot of the credit goes to the generous folks on this forum!
Unfortunately, an unexpected retirement by the household breadwinner (my wife) has necessitated some significant changes...we are selling our home and moving to a boat! It's a pretty good size boat, but there won't be room for the truck. So I will be passing it on to someone else to take it to the end zone.
I have really enjoyed the process of learning about what I have and gathering the information and the parts to get it to the point where it might actually be considered a truck! I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the road (when no longer living on a boat) I pick up another project. I really value the process of taking a bunch of parts and making a working machine out of it...and I also have very much enjoyed being part of the community found on this forum.
I will be trying to sell the truck in a very short time as we are scheduled to close on the house one month from today!
I do want to thank the folks who have spoken up and assisted me so very much! Though I have never met most of them, I think of them as good friends and they are appreciated.
Thanks!
Nick
