What year did Chevy trucks stop using torque tube drive shafts?
I don't know about all Chevy trucks but my 55.1 panel had an open drive shaft.

There is your answer. 54 was torque tube and 55 1st series was open. They use different rear leaf springs due to the different mounting pin locations as well.I don't know about all Chevy trucks but my 55.1 panel had an open drive shaft.
Open driveshafts appeared on larger trucks before they were used in cars. I would have to do a bit of research, but if your question is about trucks, let me know and I will help you figure it out.

It is a 1935 1/2 ton with 4 speed transmission and open driveshaft and 216 engine and juice brakes. Wheel cylinders for 1955 fit. Just trying to determine what year the different components are.
Hi Tiny, Do you know how to include photos and web pages on the
VCCA forum? I clicked "attach files" and added the photos and
they don't show up. I included the web pages in the text
and it also disappears.
Did you wait for the thumbnail to appear before clicking on Add Reply? There are also size limits but they're pretty large so they don't usually come into play. Put the cursor where you want to image to appear, click Attach Files, navigate to the photo(s) and select them, wait for the thumbnail(s) to appear, then click Add Reply.

The 1914 model H has a Hotchkiss drive and torque arm. Photo #1. The 1923 Copper Cooled had Hotchkiss drive with partial torque tube.
Photo #2. 1939 - 40 short WB COE has Hotchkiss.
Photo #3. All commercial and trucks 1941 & newer except half ton and passenger and most 1955 & newer including first series half ton used Hotchkiss.

Hi Tiny, I marked the area in the text where I wanted the photos. I clicked "Attach Files". I selected a 69.4 kb file and clicked "Open". I waited 20 minutes and no thumbnail appeared.
I also cannot get the "Edit" or "Delete" to work on previous replies. Are they single or double click? Thanks, Lou

Hmmm. Most unusual. This is rapidly getting above my ability to solve. You will probably need to contact Peter at Member Services (he's also our webmaster) for help. He's on Central Time. If possible be at your computer when you call him. FYI a 64 Kb image would be very small and difficult to see. It would be smaller than my avatar picture which is around 100Kb. You can upload a much larger image, up to 50MB I believe.

Just to clarify Tiny's (@tiny ) post above, each file you try to upload (Attach file) must be less than or equal to 5MB in size. You are allowed to upload a total of 10 files. Thus making a possible total of 50MB.
So when you see "Max file size 50MB" in the post editor window, it is poorly stating that the website is allotting you a total of 50MB of space for ALL files you wish to attach to a post.
