Alright, I have a 51 Chevy truck which had previously been upgraded from 216/3 speed to a 59 235/4 speed. 4 speed still retained the torque tube set up so it is older. Since the wife can’t drive manual I have already purchased and rebuilt a power glide out of a 53 bel air as I wanted to retain the torque tube. My question is did an older Chevy (truck or car) with a power glide have a center support or was the rear support all that was used for the transmission. The manual transmission had a support about six inches from the rear of the engine which makes sense due to the weight of the engine and in effect balanced by the trans. I question the stress placed between the adapter plate, engine and transmission. Any thoughts welcome
