I am currently rewiring my 1940 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery and need guidance on where the wire from Battery/Starter goes to on the Ammeter. Does this wire go to the “+” (plus/positive) side of the Ammeter or the “–“ (minus/negative) side of the Ammeter. All wiring diagrams that I found do not indicate this information, they only show that it attaches to the ammeter.

My experience with wiring diagrams is they show components in context. In other words, if the wire is shown on the diagram to connect to the driver's side (left side as sitting in the car facing the front of the car) of the ammeter, it attaches to the driver's side in real life. That is what the diagram for the 1940 car shows.
