Hello, I have a 1937 2 dr rumble seat. The head is going to be rebuilt. But found problems with the push rod lifters. The push rods slip into a spring and a clip slide into the bottom and at top there is a bracket that holds the spring down into a cup that is the lifter that rides on the cam. Problem, I'm missing a few clips and need a few push rods. Anyone have a few for sale? tried The filling station, Nothing. Also, this seems to be an old setup. can a newer lifter be installed with newer push rods from the Filling Station? Sorry I can't post pictures, but can send if needed
@nazario-machado, welcome to the new VCCA website!
Try contacting Garry Wallace at http://earlychevyparts.com/ . He has quite a stash of used parts.
BTW, since this is your first post at this site, you'll need four more posts and they you'll be able to upload pics. This is standard for everyone on this site.
Cheers, Dean

While I am not familiar with the 1937 216 specifically, I have had the earlier 1934 and 1936 engines apart. Both the 1934 and 1936 came from the factory with a similar lifter spring setup to augment the valve springs in the head. In both cases I was advised by Gene to eliminate the lifter springs and associated brackets and use valve springs from the later 216’s. This modification was discussed on the old forum towards the bottom of this link.

1937 is the last year that Chevrolet used helper springs above the lifters.
I may have some spare used retainer clips and maybe push rods. If the push rods are only bent (ends undamaged), they should be fine for re-use once straightened.
Let me know if you decide to keep the original set-up and can't find these parts from Gary Wallace or elsewhere.
Tom
