Looking to centralize the brakes on my 32 sedan. Looking at the service manual it is difficult to tell which bolts on the rear backing plates are for the centralizers.
Is the centralizer bolt with the lock on it that the slack adjusters uses as a stop for the centralizer?
I'll try to help as best I can. If I don't get it right I am sure one of the experts will chime in. There are two bolts for the centralizer. One for the pivot point and the other to lock it in place, Both need to be loosened. The pivot bolt is directly inline with the brake adjuster and the center of the axle. The other is offset to one side and is the lock bolt. After loosening both bolts apply the brakes hard to move the shoes out to the drums and then lock the bolts in place. I believe when I did mine I had a helper hold the brake adjuster in the applied position while I locked the bolts. I hope this helps and makes sense as when doing my brakes it was a steep learning curve. Just remember each wheel needs to be done individually with all the pull rods disconnected.

Steve, Sounds pretty straight forward now that I know which bolts to loosen. Really appreciate the info.
Thanks Stovblt, the service news will be a big help
Centralized the brakes today. I discovered that one of the rear brake adjusters was frozen so I pulled it off and used a little Blaster and oil to get it freed up.
