Wondering what the differences

are between a roadster and a cabriolet in 1931. Thanks Dennis

The two Roadster and Cabriolet are vastly different The chassis and mechanical parts are the same as is the chassis sheet metal. The radiator, hood are the same. However I don't believe that any body parts except the window in the top are the same and maybe a few screws or bolts. The basic difference in the bodies is the Cabriolet has roll up windows in the doors and the Roadster Side Curtains. I own one of each that have been built from boxes and baskets of pieces.

Thanks Chip, I'm looking at a Cabriolet that's missing a lot of parts.

There are VCCA members that have extra parts. Some are easier to find then others. At one time I had two '31 Cabriolets one was a parts car. We found or made the parts to have both complete cars.

I have a set of 31 Cabriolet doors and other odds and ends if that helps.

Here’s some pictures. I didn’t pull the trigger on it yet. Seems very complete. Motor is loose. They have the hood. Doors are just sitting in place. The wood is solid only rot was below the rumble lid. I made an offer well below asking so I’ll wait to hear back. It’s a big project but a neat car.

Well I spent some time looking at the Cabriolet today. Haven't pulled trigger yet as it's a big project. Seems very complete but weathered was inside till a year ago. Wood seems good only bad spot is below the rumble lid. No upholstery has springs. Engine is loose. Any idea on a value. I made an offer well below asking so I'll wait to hear from them.

The description and photos are of a very restorable project. Much better shape than either of the two I recently worked on.

I know it's hard to price something from a few pics but anyone want venture a ballpark value. I don't want to walk away if this is worth more than a parts car.
