I noticed that the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America Facebook site has "5.4K members" and is a "Private group". That means that they found the site, requested permission to participate and it was granted. I wonder how many are actually paying members of the Club? How many of the participants in the VCCA Forums are members? Is that because it is too expensive? Does not give valuable benefit to forum participants? Too many people want something for nothing? And feel better for that? What is the value of something that does not cost you anything? Are you getting what you paid for?

I've had mixed results with the FB page. I don't know who actually owns the page or what the agreement with the club is that allows them to put the club's name on it but I think the club is putting itself at risk by allowing it.

I don't like/understand the format of FB pages or groups. The same item shows up time after time. As awful as this site is, I prefer it to any FB group where I have tried to participate.

I'm a bit of a dinosaur I guess because I don't do and have never done the face book thing.

Or any other "social media" for that matter.

Don't even carry a cell phone unless I need to.

I've watched it take over the lives of people around me and don't want to go there.

I find that visiting this site is rewarding and takes about all the time I want to devote to such things.

I do wish though that more of the old regulars had managed to make it over here from the old site.

@tiny I agree with you Tiny.  I am on Facebook every day sometimes multiple times.  There is so much AI generated stuff on there that only a part of the posts is believable.  Facebook list 5.4k members is because most of them just "like or Love" the pictures of the cars.   Not because they have any interest in actually working with old cars.  The owners of Facebook should be paying the VCCA something, but I don't know if we would be liable for anything.
