With the cowl vent open, windshield open, and the side windows open, the '46 is really pretty nice to ride in even in 90 degree heat.
But there is always a little heat coming off the old recirculating heater even with the air valves closed, so I thought it could be better.
I was going to install a period correct NOS accessory heater shut-off valve, but then I thought "Wouldn't it be nice if I could turn the valve on and off from inside the cab?".
So...
The pictures show what I did instead.
I tried to make it look like everything belonged there.

I was extremely fortunate to find a NOS unit still in the original GM box some years back for my 39. It was on Ebay when prices were still somewhat reasonable. I leave it the closed position. I think I would trust your setup more! I'm assuming mine would probably leak if I actually opened and closed it often. Oh, please ignore my incorrect radiator hose clamp. It was a quick fix for a slight leak!
