I had the starter rebuilt on my 51 and a new solenoid installed by a reputable starter/alternator rebuilder here in Detroit over the winter. Since then, it cranked well and started great every time. This weekend I was at the Greenfield Village Motor Muster and I started it each morning and drove around the grounds. When I was ready to leave, it again started perfectly. I drove about 25 miles on the freeway home and shut the car down at my house to unload. The battery gage read in the middle all the whole way home; no charge and no discharge. When I went to start it again it acted like a dead battery. Battery measured 6.35 volts. I noticed some puffs of white smoke coming from the starter. All connections are tight and clean. Any thoghts/help woul be appreciated.
