29 Axle Shaft Removal

Driver side rear axle shaft has stripped threads so I need to take it to a machinist.

I have a repair manual that shows how to drop the whole axle, but not remove the axle shaft.

Anyone have a video or can give me a narrative on how its done (preferably without dropping the axle).
