actually, I have four vehicles with wood spoke wheels. What I need is thoughts and advice as to care and maintenance. I have some painted and some unpainted. I have no idea what sort of preservative is used on the unpainted ones.
Thanks in advance for any and all help

Thanks Dean! that helps, looks like I have my work cut out for me. That leaves me with two sets of painted wheels. You pointed out something that concerns me. I suspected as you say the wood dries out and shrinks. Your system looks great for non-painted wheels, but I'm not sure what to do with painted ones
Thanks for the kind words, Lou and Tiny.
I've never had a vehicle with painted wood spokes, so I don't know what maintenance they require. At a minimum, I suggest you:
- Remove each tire/rim
- Inspect the ends of the spokes where they stick through the felloe to see if any are loose
Based on what you find, if all the spokes are tight in their felloe hole, they might be good as is.
Separately, you might want to pull each wheel off and check that all the nuts that hold the hub to the spokes are tight. If you find loose nuts or ones that are stripped, there's something that needs to be addressed.
BTW, I put a drop of Loctite 680 on the threads of each hub-bolt to inhibit the nuts from coming loose.
Hopefully, someone who has experience with the maintenance required for painted wooden spokes will chime in on this topic.
Cheers, Dean
