Identifying chevy engine case numbers

Hi all,

I am new here. I recently acquired a 1953 Chevy Bel Air 4-door sedan. I am told the original engine was swapped out for a rebuilt chevy nova engine in the late 1970s. I have the engine case numbers but do not know what they mean. Does anyone have a resource for decoding engine case numbers on these cars?

Thanks,

Jason

@Jason Jason, Take pictures of as many numbers as you can and post them here. I think someone will be able to help you. It would not be a simple engine swap to do what you have described. Be sure to include a picture of the engine.

@35mike Hi, it appears I can’t attach files until I reach a certain number of posts. Not sure how many posts that is…
