I hope someone can help. I am trying to change my old single speed blower motor to a 3 speed. I bought the motor from Classic industries along with a switch. (old switch was broken.) The new switch seems to have appropriate wiring but no resistor. I believe I will need a resistor to make the 3 speeds work. Can I get an aftermarket resistor to work with this set up? Where is a good spot to mount it? The resistors I have seen have no covers on the coils. I assume this is due to needing to dissipate the heat generated. If it isn't should I get/make a cover? Thanks in advance.

@oldasme Some blower motors give different speeds with resistance and others have multiple wires to give different speeds. The multi-wire motors will be matched up to a switch with appropriate terminals to accomplish the goal. This was the case on Ford cars in the era of ????1940-1948. You did not mention if your new motor has multiple wire4s, so I am assuming that it does not. I just thought this was worth mentioning.

@35mike Thanks for the info. Both motors have only 2 wires, so I was going with it needs a resistor. I have seen some available resistors that have matching terminals to the switch but since it is not original I need to find an appropriate mounting place.
