I have a 1931 independence and am trying to find parts for the windshield lifting mechanism. I see the kit sold on the filling station but it doesn’t seem to match the wood header board I have. Does anyone have a picture of how a complete  mechanism sits in the wood board? Thank you

Hello Thane DeWeese,

You might try a google search:"header board on 1931 chevy car". The search offered: VCCA Chat-1931 Header Board/Regulator. Check out the posts, photos and suggested websites. The photos come up blurry so click on the picture directly and they become clear. Maybe this will be of help. Harry

I believe this is the thread Harry is referring to.  https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/371689/1931-header-board-regulator.html

Hello Thane DeWeese,

If you look-up The Filling Station FS-206, you can click on it for an expanded description. There are two pictures that can be selected and clicked on for an enlarged viewing. Might also be of help. Harry

Hello Thane,

How have you made out on the progress of your windshield riser mechanism? I brought a couple of the ones I have to see about getting one put together for the '29 Convertible Landau Sedan I have. Virtually all of the GM cars from the late 20s to '32 had something similar to open the windshield. Fisher Body Corporation even installed some in non GM cars they made up to and including 1928. I have one from a 1926 Fisher bodied Chrysler that looks identical to the ones used on the Chevrolets. I think it is from a Model 60. I have another one that I know came from a 1928 Model 72 Fisher Bodied parts car I bought. It has a totally different mechanism and is similar to what would be found in a small Buick. Flat plate bars with teeth cut in them. It had not been apart so long I damaged the threaded handle retainer getting it apart. The windshield risers I have seen with this mechanism work much better, and have a much lower failure rate.

I have not checked out how to post pictures on this forum so if someone would be interested in doing that I can email the pictures to them.
