Windshield regulator repair

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have disassembled my windshield regulator on my 29. All the gears are junk. I see that the fillin station has replacement gears. My question is… as I look at this… does the rebuilding of this regulator take any special skill or tools? I can do a lot of things but I see pins and rivets that I am not sure I have the finesse to dismantle and reassemble. I know the fillin station has a rebuild program and they will do out for me for a price. Probably expensive but not as expensive as having them fix my mistakes.

Has anyone done this themselves? Can you offer any advice? Do the pins get hammered out or drilled out. The large gears seem to have a rivet that holds them in place. What’s the best way to remove and replace those? Also I think while I’m at it I should replace the seals on the windshield. It would really be a pain to get this all done and have the windshield leak. I think I have seen the seals online but I can’t remember where.

Any advice from the elders and experts here is much appreciated.

Thanks

Rich

I am sure the Filling Station will send you a copy of their instruction sheet that is in their rebuild kit. Just call and ask tomorrow. Or you may be able to see the sheet by looking for the technical articles that Steve Kassis has written and posted on their website.
