Hi All,
Can anybody point me in the direction of how to obtain a "Main Jet" for a Tillotson JR5A carburetor, or a replacement carb?
I am working to get a 1929 Chevrolet International AC 1-1/2 ton truck up and running. It has the Tillotson on it rather than an the original OEM Carter carb, but the Tillotson carburetor needs to be overhauled as the idle adjustment does not function. The "main jet" is stuck in place and cannot be removed at this time and thus it may have to be destroyed to get it removed, thus a replacement may be required.
Your good guidance, suggestions, advice, words of wisdom would be very helpful.
Respectfully, Norm
I have been told that there are replacement parts available. Have never found a source despite searching on internet a few times. I rebuild the original Carter carburetors and have some cores that I can build if you don't have one.

Hi Chip,
Thank you for the reply.
Your offer to provide a Carter rebuild alternative is good to know that option is available. If I need to change direction away from the Tillotson and towards a Carter I will further that discussion with you.
Regarding the availability of stock, I received this reply from CarbKing on the AACA forum:
"My guess would be the only way to obtain such a jet would be to watch for a complete used carburetor on E-bay.
While we do make a rebuilding kit for this carburetor, we do not, nor will we ever, make any other parts for it; and even the Tillotson dealers that we bought out 40~50 years ago had only gasket sets for the JR series. It was a very inexpensive universal "replacement???" when new."
Thank you for the idea and suggestion, it is greatly appreciated.

Norm, have you heard of Renner's Corner as a source? It is a supplier of early parts, including carb stuff for Tillotson among others. David Renner is an awesome resource and provided parts and valuable guidance for the non-Carter (Allstate) carb on my 29 sedan. Check out rennerscorner.com which also has their phone number. Hope that helps!

Hi Doug, No, I have not heard about David Renner and his offerings. This is very good to know. I will check into it.
Thank you for the guidance and advice.
