Finally got the car out for a test run. I noticed the amp gauge wasn't reading so I turned around and worked on it. Turns out that the cut out switch was bad so I ordered a new one. While working on the generator the car overheated in the garage. I thought it was the thermostat checked it out and found out it was working fine.
Had to bite the bullet and took out the radiator. Took to the rad. shop and found out a mouse had filled the radiator with seeds and made a nest during the 10 years waiting to put it back together. I also decided to buy a four blade fan which finally arrived Friday after 3 weeks. Installed the new fan and radiator yesterday.
We took the 1930 Chevy for a spin around the neighborhood today. It worked great.
I noticed the amp gauge was reading between 15 -20. Is that OK.
Congratulations on the test run. Any generator output over 12 amps risks melting the solder out of the armature.
How sweet the roar of a Chevy four
