I am looking for a reference to the original upholstery (seats and door/wall panels) for my 1932 Chevy.   Any help in identifying material grades and colors used is appreciated. Getting ready to start replacing the interior door panels and side fabrics and then will do the headliner.

There aren't a lot of options when it comes to original type fabrics. You might check with SMS Auto Fabrics.

What is the model of your car? There was a plate on the cowl inner passenger side with the trim number.  That will help to determine the correct upholstery material.

@steve-d  Thanks.

The info on the plate

Body No F8826

Trim No 16 (or possibly 18). It is pretty worn off.

Paint No 88 (or possibly 89)

Appreciate any help.

Hello ESF,

There is some information that may be helpful to you, on the old forum by: Chevdude 05/30/11 12:41pm #208350. Also read the responses. I came across this when googling 1932 chevy cowl tag information.

@esf trim #16 is gray mohair /  seat material had a pattern  and plain gray mohair on the panels.  Paint # 88 is brown and 89 is black.

@esf Possibly but without a model it makes searching difficult. The model should be the top listing (job Number) on the tag and start with 32***. That will help to identify if you have a std.sedan, coupe, pick up, cabriolet, coach, special sedan, sedan delivery or phaeton.

The tag translates into:

Job No. 32551   =   1932 Chevrolet Coach

Body No F  8826   =   8826nd Coach built at Flint MI Fisher Body Plant

Trim No.   18   =  Gray Mohair (patterned)

Paint No.  89   =  Black with Ocean Green outer stripes and Gold Bronze center stripe

The 8 is clearly and 8  the next number has a larger top loop so I think it is a 9. Besides 89 is the first color combination for 1932 models.

I agree the paint number is 89 but the trim # as far as I can determine is 16 and not 18. There is a trim #18 listed in my parts book for a 32551S but the only item I can find listed with that usage is for the headlining trim. Not sure what the "S" indicates after the model (job#) . Perhaps a special order.

I blew the image up quite a bit. It looks like an 8 to me. Perhaps a pencil rubbing would make it more clear.

@tiny The standard interior according to the Heritage Center is the gray/gray and that is trim #16 . The only other trim color that I am aware of is the tan and I believe that is #20. Hampton Coach kits for closed cars were either the gray or tan. Other colors were available by request
