Location of braces

When I disassembled the front end of my '42 1-1/2 ton to rebuild the engine (a year and a half ago....)  I stowed the grille, radiator, hood, fenders on the flatbed, stowed the various other pieces-parts in a box, along with the hardware (bagged and tagged).  Now that I have it mostly back together, I'm left with these two 9" long braces that I cannot for the life of me, figure out where they go...  Can anyone offer some clues?

Hi Michael

If you look in through your grill at the "apron" that spans across the bottom edge of the radiator, you will see a captive square nut about half way back on each side of the "apron".

Your brace is bolted to the back side of the "apron" through that captive nut, and runs down to the very bottom of the inner edge (radiator side) of the fender.

If you need a picture, I may be able to get you one tomorrow.

Hope that helps.  🙂

Ole, if the piece you're referring to is the same relative piece shown below (with the engine crank handle hole in it), it was called the "lower radiator baffle" in 38. Probably similar in 42.

@tiny

Yes, that's the piece.  👍

And your picture should help Michael interpret my clumsy description.  🙂
