Sound deadening & insulation

Good morning,

I'm at the point with my 29 Landau that I'm looking at sound and insulation options to install before the upstart guy works his magic.

I'm familiar with Dynamat and Resonix for sound deadening, but I'd also like a solution with an R- factor for insulation.

Anyone have a recommendation on a product (or 2-3 products if a multi layer solution is better)?  Upholstery guy says doing the firewall, floor, and walls/shell will be fine.  He's going to come get eyes on the roof and convertible frame to discuss a game plan before we add any kind of weight to it or do something thats difficult to remove.

For his part, upholstery guy said he can insulate while doing the upholstery, but he wasnt up on sound deadening.

Thanks for any insight!

Is the cost and the labor worth the outcome?  Go online and get more information before making up your mind on what you are going to do.  If you decide to use a sound deadener, please let us know if you notice a difference.

Well the labor is free and compared to new paint and upholstery, cost is a small piece.

This is a family car that I want to last for generations and be fun to drive, so cost isn't too much of a factor (luckily I can do that).

In a general sense, I'd be surprised if you find anything useful. R value is measured in inches and there aren't many spare, unused, inches inside most vehicles. I think that's why all of the makers of deadener linings depend on reflectivity of a foil material over inches of an insulator. If you prove me wrong, let us know what your find.

This is who I used for a dash mat for my 51. I have not used their other products but I was impressed with their customer service when speaking with them. https://www.quietride.com/    They may not have a kit for your 29 but they are a good source for product information.
