Well, not today, but a couple of weeks ago I drove Justin to a car show put on by some local Carpenter Unions. In the back of my truck I had my BS Flyer (for Briggs and Stratton, of course!), a motor bike that I built in 2019 out of a bunch of different-era parts.

The venue (a local park) and the weather were great and the crowd was appreciative of all the vehicles there.

Besides having a fun day, I got TWO awards!!  The 'Under Construction' award and the coveted 'WTF' award!  Most excellent! See the attached photos.

Awesome Dean!  I don't recall seeing anything before on your BS Flyer.  Is that gem actually rideable?  That's a video I'd love to see 🙂

Thanks David. 😉

Yes, the bike works and I run it around the block occasionally. I built the BS Flyer (for Briggs and Stratton of course!) in the summer of 2019 using the following components:

- 1947 Simplex Servi-Cycle motorcycle frame and front forks
- 1953 Simplex gas tank
- Montgomery Wards Briggs and Stratton 2 hp lawn mower engine
- 1960-62 Honda 50 carburetor
- 1959 Mercury centrifugal clutch
- 1923 Torrington bicycle handlebars
- 1920's Klaxon horn
- 1950's Schwinn bicycle handlebar stem
- 1940-1950 Villers choke lever (used as a throttle lever)
- 1928 Chevrolet brake rod
- Early 1960's NOS Simplex tires

Today, I took the BS Flyer and my minibike chopper (the Preying Mantis) to the 2024 Concours d'Lemons show near Monterey CA.  The goal at this show is to get the coveted 'Worst of Show' award. The show was created to be the antithesis of the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance, which happens tomorrow. My  minibike got the 'Sickest Sickle' award. 😉

I built the minibike in 1966 when I was in Junior High School. I was around 12 or 13 years old then. Today is the first time I've taken the minibike to a show since I was in High School, 53 years ago!

Below are some pics of the two bikes and my dual motorcycle rack on the back of my Dodge pickup.

Cheers, Dean
