I am a Pontiac guy and picked up a NOS tilt steering column a few years back that was sold it would fit my 67 Pontiacs. Unfortunately it does not. It came in its original box and has a part number listed on it as 5698645. I believe it is a Chevrolet item but not certain as i don't have any Chevy parts books. I have looked every where for a reference. I was hoping someone from the Chevy forums possibly could identify this item, what does it fit and all. Any help would be so much appreciated.
The long collar at the top, the relative location of the shift lever, and the fact that the rest of the column is not meant to be seen, would lead me to think that it is later than 60s. I assume there is a place for a turn signal switch, how about ignition switch?

Hey Mike, that's my dilemma ...from 69 all GM Columns had the ignition switch on the column, hence it makes me suspect it is pre 69 or Chevrolet Truck? i think the part number 569864 hold the key, but i don't have any Chevrolet parts books to reference.
Without the ingnition switch and the spot for the four way flasher knob I’m going to say 1967 or 1968 GM.

Does anyone have parts book that you can reference to? Part number on the box states: 5698645.
Does this help?
