Fues holder

I am installing a 1950 accessory terminal board and fuse holders as I rewire my car. I have questions regarding the proper fuses to use in the original Bakelite fuse holders. From what I can discern from researching the fuses there are two types of BUSS 1/4" glass fuses available. There are the AGC type that are all the same length regardless of amperage, then there are the SFE type that vary in length depending on the amperage the fuse. I have found 6 antique fuse holders that I intend to install in this project. These holders contain a mixture of AGC and SFE fuses. The puzzling thing is that either the short or the long fuses seem to be interchangeable between holders. Am I to assume the wizards of Detroit engineered these devices to accept either type fuse or would it be an inadvertent oversight? Bottom line is this: Which type fuse did GM originally use? Would there be a problem in standardizing to the more common AGC fuse (of various amperages as required) in all of the holders?

Bob, I'm sorry no one has answered your question yet. Many of the long time members haven't made the move to the new forum yet. I don't have your answer. Hopefully it gets answered soon.

@tiny  Might have to contact the Technical Advisor for the info. I checked my accessory book which has diagrams but no parts list as such other than the kit numbers. Possibly the fuses/holders are listed in the owners manual? As a side note I see no way to reply directly to Bob's post as the only bottons shown are "quote" and "report" .

Contacting the Technical Advisor is a great idea. The way you reply to the OP is to scroll down to the 'Leave A Reply' box.

@tiny OK . Does not make sense to me . Seems like an extra step. On your "replied post" there are three options so it only requires one step. On the OP post two options on the post and a further step to scroll to reply.
