Thank you for clarrifying things for me as I thought I understood what the symbols meant.
@paul-baresel Yes it is interesting to know that over 100 years ago they were using symbols and code for communication and today with computers we are doing the same thing. As you noted on page 107 the 29-30-and 31 distributors are the same with the 32 being a different part number. The only difference noted being the main body and all other parts the same. I think that confirms that slight filing of the cap should solve your issue.

Yes, it would solve the problem. I learned the hard way that if it doesn't fit right, do not force it! I rely on manuals to help solve a problem and try to research the problem and this is why the forums help. I plan to try to file today. Thanks for the help
@paul-baresel I have some old stock caps for this application. Two of them are genuine Delco Remy and the others are various brands from the period when the cars were in use. All of them have brass contacts. The brass in the DR caps is a reddish color. All of the others are made with a yellow brass. I don't own a Chevy of this vintage so I will never need these. I will place an ad below.

Thank you for thinking of me. I am not a great computer user, but I do not see the ad. I checked the Parts for Sale forum and did not see it listed. Paul
