1937 Electrolock Repair

The ignition wire in my electrolock switch has shorted out and I would like to replace it.  I can't find much upon searching, other than it can be done. I have the switch out and I took it apart by straightening the 3 tabs that hold the halves together, but I can't figure out how to remove the Bakelite base that the wire is attached to and I don't want to break it.  Does it press out of the case with the terminals, or is something else holding it?  It looks like the flex cable may unscrew from the back, but its not cooperative.  Has anyone done this that can provide some instruction?

The Filling Station sells a rebuild guide for that electrolock. Item DG-180.

I would also recommend the guide, the Bakelite is fragile and breaks very easy.   If you look closely, about midway around the circumference of the metal body, there are three deformations that need to be relieved so the Bakelite internals can slide out. I remove the deformations with a thin wheel on a die grinder and then try to remove any burrs that formed on the back side with thin blade knife. With a little gentle persuasion, the internals including the wire, should push out by applying pressure on the screw terminal.

FYI, The armored cable looks like it should unscrew from the back, but does not.

Thanks so much.  All this is very helpful. I'll look into the rebuild guide.
