I'm hoping that someone can provide some information on the stamped numbers on a 235 Inline 6 that

I have in a 1955 First Series pickup.  The number is LAQ311720.  I was under the belief that all of these engine numbers should start with either F for Flint or T for Tonawanda.  Any help deciphering this is appreciated.

Interesting dilemma Richard. Someone who can help you will be along shortly. I always thought it was F or T as well. Kind of makes me think it's not the original engine but don't hang your hat on that, that's just a guess. Good luck.

Edit: I did find this that would indicate it's a 1953 engine originally hooked to a Powerglide: https://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/models/engine.htm (scroll down about half way)
