Brake Fluid

I opened up the master cylinder on my 51 and saw that the brake fluid is very low. What type/brand brake fluid should I add? The brakes are all stock and the next step is to check the brakes at each wheel. There are no leaks and the brakes work just OK.

I believe it used DOT3. If I'm wrong someone will correct me. It's also a good idea to buy a large container of fluid and flush your system. DOT3 fluid retains moisture so cycling it out periodically is a good idea. Get some help to have someone go to each bleeder one at a time then pump fresh fluid through the Master Cylinder & lines until the fresh fluid comes out that bleeder. Then do the other three the same way.

Tiny,

Thanks for your help. I did some more research and the fluid specified in the service manual is DOT3 in modern terms. I will take your advise and flush the system as you suggest.
