Has anyone added spotlights to a 39 Master 85, if so what brackets are used for a Unity S6?      Thanks, Tom  toms63fury@gmail.com

I made my own brackets. Started with angle iron and machines them to bolt nicely to the back side of the bumper. You can choose where you want the lights to hang via the way you design your brackets. If that isn't in your ability or ambition range there are all kinds of vintage bracketing offered on eBay... among others. I can send pictures of how I did it you like.

Are you referring to a spotlight or fog lights? While I don't own one and have never mounted one, I believe the Unity S6 is a spotlight that goes through the A pillar. If I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Hi ttomtt

As Tiny said above, the S6 is normally mounted in the A pillar so I assume you are looking for that mounting bracket.

If so, this chart:

https://unityusa.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/168-29%20to%2049%20Application%20Guide.pdf

says you need the #99 bracket, which fits all 1939 Chevrolet cars, but not much else.

Hope that helps in your search.

I suspect you may need to try to find a complete used unit from a '39 with the bracket included.

Hope you find what you need!

Hi again ttomtt

You might want to look at this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256613648053

It's pricey, but it's supposed to fit '39 Chevs, and it actually has the Chevrolet bow tie on it.

I don't have the knowledge to know what brand name and model of spotlight Chev supplied as an accessory in 1939, but Gene probably does.

Pretty cool though that it has the Chevrolet bow tie right on it!  🙂

PS

From what I've been reading...

it appears that Unity made the "Sportlite" spot light in the '30s.

Later, Unity changed the name of the spot light to "Safetylight".

So... the spot light that Chevrolet sold as an accessory in 1939 quite possibly was the Unity "Sportlite".

@ole-olson and others, The name change from Sportlite to Safetylite was long before 1939. The correct spotlight for my 1936 truck would be a safetylite. I don't know the exact year.
