Replaced the accelerator pump, installed a new gasket between carburetor and manifold, the little round gasket that attaches onto the underside of the fuel bowl lid ( top ) and a new gasket between the fuel bowl and lid. Sunday September 1 started her up and drove her for a few miles. Seems to be just about 99.9 % back to normal. Drove very well and strongly. I'm calling it a success. Going to a car show tomorrow on Labor Day. Thanks everybody. I know I was really dejected at 1 point. Never had this much problems before.  It's nice and patient folks like you that make this Club what it is !! Thanks again and Happy Labor Day to all !

So NOW there is a leak. It's a larger screw that is on the underside of the carburetor. It had a new gasket on it , it was leaking. I took the whole carburetor off again ( only way to access this screw ) took the gasket off ( it was a copper gasket and  since the screw is beveled, the gasket took on that shape ). Put screw in, started car. Runs great. After sitting for 1 hour now said screw is leaking again. Makes not 1 bit of sense.

Just had a thought.........what I am talking about is the shaft that holds the 2 screw check valves ( inlet and outlet ) I didn't install the new ones provided with the kit. I will do so. It certainly can't hurt. Perhaps THAT is the issue, maybe the originals are compromised in some way. BTW, I have watched several times the video by " The Jayhawker " on Youtube. He has a really good one on rebuilding a Carter W 1 on his 1948 coupe.
