Floor shift knob ??

This is my floor shift knob my 33. Is this the right knob with markings

? Don't understand the free wheeling knob on the dash. Someone cut it off anyway. What is the shift pattern ?

That's not the correct knob. I believe the correct knob would be a hard black rubber with no markings. My 38 is a push on, unthreaded knob. Threaded and unthreaded are sold by the vendors. The shift pattern is the standard H pattern.

Looks like a shift knob off of a transfer case for a 4 wheel drive.

If you are saying that you don't know what "free wheeling" is, here is a quick overview. For 1932 and 1933, Chevrolet thought it would be a good idea for owners to be able to coast down hill, by just taking their foot off the accelerator. When engaged, your Free Wheeling allows you to do that.

I think it soon became apparent that the brake system was not capable of controlling the car in these situations and that engine braking was a valuable asset. Free Wheeling was discontinued, never to be seen again. I believe it is a feature of some overdrives.

As noted by Ken, your knob is borrowed from a 4 X 4 truck transfer case.
